Shopmium Promo Code UK & My Honest Review
Posted on

Back in November 2018, my first ever Shopmium payout was £2.50, a BOGOF deal on soup at Tesco. I'm writing this updated review nearly eight years later, as I still regularly use the Shopmium app.
I've now saved £503.87 in total using the Shopmium app, which is impressive, given I sometimes don't use it for months at a time!
If you're not familiar with it, Shopmium is a free UK cashback app that gives you money back on specific products at the supermarket. So what is Shopmium exactly?
You buy something that's listed as a deal or offer, snap your receipt, scan the barcode, and the cashback lands in your account within a couple of days.
Shopmium referral code and promo code: 46E3T
Download the Shopmium app here and enter my referral code (sometimes called a promo code, voucher code, or coupon code) 46E3T when you sign up. At the time of writing, new users get a £1 free cash bonus once they complete their first cashback request.
Welcome offers do change from time to time. When I first started using Shopmium, new sign-ups got a free product, things like a tub of Pringles or a jar of Nutella. It's since moved to a straightforward cash bonus instead, so it's always worth checking exactly what's on offer when you sign up.
Which supermarkets does Shopmium cover?
Shopmium currently has offers at some of the most popular supermarkets in the UK:
- Tesco
- Sainsbury's
- Asda
- Morrisons
- Waitrose
- Co-op
Offers pop up at other retailers occasionally too, as there's an "Other" tab in the app covering additional shops, so it's always worth a quick check regardless of where you're shopping.
How does Shopmium work?
The app is genuinely simple. Open it, browse what's currently on offer, and buy the item as normal in store.
Once you're home, take a photo of your receipt (making sure the date, product, price, store and total are all visible), scan the barcode of the item you bought, and submit it. Shopmium reviews it and adds the cashback to your balance.
Here's the tip that took me a while to figure out: check the app before you shop, not just after. If you're buying crisps, soup, or pasta sauce anyway, have a quick look first to see if there's a version of that product on offer, and buy that one instead. That way you're not relying on what you've already bought happening to match an offer.
The app currently covers a genuinely wide range of categories too, chilled food, dairy, bakery, food cupboard staples, drinks, baby products, pet food, and more, so it's worth a proper browse rather than a quick glance.

How much can I actually save with Shopmium?
My running total sits at £503.87 since 2018, though I'll be honest, some months I don't buy anything on there at all, and other times I might grab two or three offers in one shop.
It really depends what's listed and whether it's something we'd actually buy. I honestly do forget to check it sometimes too, so my total isn't anywhere near what it could be.
If you remember to check the app before you go shopping, and you buy a lot of well-known brands, you could easily make a lot more cashback than I have.
Recent examples from my own shopping: £1 cashback on Shreddies Original cereal, and £1 cashback on Lloyd Grossman pomodoro and basil pasta sauce. Sometimes these line up with an in-store offer too, so you get the discounted price and the Shopmium cashback on top.
As I'm writing this, there's a good run of "back to school" offers on cereals, including a couple of Cheerios varieties my kids will happily eat, plus some soup offers that are useful for us.
Getting paid
You can withdraw once you've built up £10 in your balance. Payment goes to PayPal (this is what I use) or you can add a bank account instead if you'd rather. As a Silver level member, Shopmium's own terms say payments are processed within 2 working days, which matches my experience of getting paid quickly and without any fees.
Refer a friend and earn £1 each
Once you're signed up, you'll have your own referral link to share. When a friend downloads the app using your link and completes their first cashback request, you both get £1 added to your balance. It's worth mentioning to anyone doing a weekly shop already, since there's genuinely no downside to it being free to join.
If you haven't signed up yet, you can use my Shopmium referral link here or enter my code 46E3T when you download the app, that way we both get the £1 bonus once you complete your first cashback request.

Shopmium Club: Silver and Gold membership
One thing that's changed since I first started using the app is the Shopmium Club tier system. You start at Silver level, which gets you faster payments, quicker customer service responses, and access to exclusive challenges.
Refer enough friends or submit enough cashback requests and you move up to Gold, which adds early previews of offers before they go live, a birthday gift, and bonus credit on your Gold anniversary.
You do need to submit at least one cashback request every 30 days to hold onto Gold once you're there (or five requests to earn it back if you drop down a level), so it's really for people using the app regularly rather than occasionally.
Is Shopmium legit and worth it?
Yes, Shopmium is a legitimate UK cashback app, and I can say that with confidence after using it since 2018 and being paid out reliably the whole time, well over £500 in total. It's free to join, there's no catch, and you're never asked to pay anything upfront.
As for whether it's worth it, honestly, yes, but with a caveat. We're a vegan household, and we don't eat meat, dairy, or heavily processed food often, so there isn't always something for us.
But every now and then there's a vegetable soup, a vegan-friendly tomato pasta sauce, a rice packet, or a naughty cereal treat for the kids (like Cheerios!) that fits what we'd buy anyway, and when that happens it's free money and cheaper food for minimal effort.
I never build a weekly shop around it, but as a habit of checking before or after each supermarket trip, it's added up to a genuinely useful amount over time.

Other apps like Shopmium
Shopmium isn't the only way to save at the till, and it's worth using alongside a few others rather than instead of them:
- GreenJinn - another supermarket coupon app with a similar buy-then-claim-cashback approach, worth checking alongside Shopmium since the offers rarely overlap.
- Receipt snapping apps - a wider list of apps that turn your everyday receipts into cash or vouchers, useful even on shops with nothing on Shopmium.
- UK cashback sites - for the bigger picture beyond groceries, my full list of the cashback sites I actually use.
