About Lylia Rose

What is the Lylia Rose Website?
My name is Victoria, and I am the founder of the Lylia Rose money and lifestyle website, where I share genuine, tried-and-tested ways to make and save money, alongside real lifestyle content on family, home, healthy living, fashion and travel.
I love to write about things I've actually lived and done myself, and I'm passionate about. This is why the Lylia Rose website has a strong financial angle, covering everything from self-employment to managing family finances.
I love personal finance and managing our household budget and savings, but I'm not perfect with money. I take real risks too, like maxing out a mortgage to relocate to our dream location, or taking on loans to fund expensive purchases, and I'm always trying to save more and do better.
My own experience spans unmanageable debt in early adulthood, and having a shopping addiction, including a £17,500 debt crisis in my teenage years, right through to more manageable debt from what I'd call more responsible borrowing in my 30s and 40s, if it can even be called that. That journey is why financial stability became such a passion for me, and why I write about money practically and honestly, from someone who's genuinely been on both sides of it.
I started self-employment in 2012 with a handmade Etsy shop, called Lylia Rose, then created an online webstore with the same name. I started blogging in early 2013 to try to get more views to my online shop. I didn't know I could make money from blogging at first, but, unknown to me at the time, it would end up being the start of a full-time career online for me.
By January 2017 I'd earned a full-time wage from my online income for six months straight, so I finally handed in my notice for good, and my annual turnover has grown from £26,000 in that first full year to £99,000 by 2025.
I love saving money through cashback, and I love making money online and being self-employed, so when I write about side hustles or self-employment, I'm speaking from years of direct, ongoing experience.
I've also been the breadwinner for our family since 2019, so I understand the pressure of making enough money more than most people would. Not knowing how much I'll earn when I wake up each day adds a real financial pressure to life, exciting but also stressful in a way many employed people never have to grasp.
That's deepened my interest in personal finance and given me genuine highs and lows to share honestly on this website. My husband is also self-employed, so between us we have completely irregular income.
Between myself and my husband, we now have years of experience running digital marketing businesses, ecommerce websites, selling on handmade marketplaces, digital printables and local service businesses. That's why I can write authentically about such a wide range of side hustles, passion projects and ways to make money.
Together we genuinely live the working from home, self-employed, side hustle life, while raising a family, managing debt and unpredictable income, and tackling home improvement projects and a relocation along the way. We also try to squeeze in healthy living and an outdoors lifestyle by the coast.
Whatever you're here for, whether it's a specific side hustle, an honest app review, or just some real-life money and family content, you'll find a lot of genuine, tested tips rather than guesswork. I write from what's actually worked (and sometimes gone wrong) for us, so you can skip the trial and error and get straight to what's useful.
Below is a rundown of every category on the site, why I write about it, and links to some popular articles to get you started.

Headshot of me from 2019 that I had taken for my website. It was the first and only time I ever had short hair.
Money
Money is the heart of this website, and it's the section with the most content by far.
Money
I love finding and sharing free money offers, and I try to save where I can. But I also believe some things are worth paying for, and I'll happily spend on quality when it's genuinely needed rather than always chasing the cheapest option.
Between us, my husband and I have earned around £7,000 through TopCashback alone over the past 10 years. I genuinely love cashback and I'm a real advocate for it.
While we do have debts, I've personally paid back every loan I've taken out ahead of schedule. We do use credit cards too, but mainly for the rewards, not for the actual credit.
We're a busy family of four, managing mortgages, family budgeting, and real highs and lows with our income along the way.
In this section you'll find lots of tips for saving money, making money, and even getting free money legitimately.

Income Reports
For several years I published detailed income reports, showing exactly how I made money online and from home. Since 2021 I've moved away from yearly reports since they became repetitive, but I still share the latest turnover figures on my homepage, and the online business has kept growing every year since.
The full run of reports:

Home and Garden
Our first house together was a 1960s semi we transformed with years of DIY, doing most of the work ourselves. We only lived there for seven years, but our hard work and modernisation paid off as we sold it for 78% more than we paid for it.
We relocated in 2021 and have spent the years since completely redoing our new home and garden, always with a new project on the go. This section covers everything we've genuinely learned along the way, including real costs.
In this section you'll find real home improvement stories, honest costs and practical tips from our own renovations.
