  1. Blogger, home and online income report January 2019

    Posted on

Welcome to my monthly income report where I share how much money I have managed to make from home.  This income is from blogging, various online side hustles, money-making smart phone apps, website testing, matched betting, online selling and I also include any cash back I have earned.

To read an in-depth reason behind sharing my income reports start with the blog post why I publish income reports and another great read is how I made £35000 from home in 2018

    Enjoy :)

My January 2019 blogging, at-home & online income breakdown

    Income report - How I made £1923.70 at-home, blogging & online in January (

Please note, this blog post shares my total turnover for the month, before tax deductions and expenses.  My expenses vary each month as some are annual or quarterly payments, however my average monthly business expenses, tax savings, NI, etc were £830 last year.  Deduct this from the total for an idea of my take-home pay.

    User Testing £7.42

I've joined some more website testing platforms and I completed my first test with User Testing.  They paid within a few days.  The payments are $10 per test.  There are a lot of tests on there, but I've not qualified for any more yet, but perhaps your demographics and lifestyle will allow you to complete more.  I hope to be able to complete a few tests a month to bump up my side-hustle earnings.  You can sign up at https://www.usertesting.com/be-a-user-tester

    OhMyDosh! £12.51

This is a Get Paid To style website where you basically get paid to do things such as sign up to trials.  I signed up to the Which? 30 day trial and an Amazon 30 day trial.  I literally cancelled right away and basically got paid to trial them for 30 days!

    Top Cashback £21.43

I LOVE getting cashback.  You're just wasting money if you're not getting any on your online purchases.  It's free money back for the things you are already buying!

Read my blog post about it here: Over £800 cashback in 2 years with Top Cashback

    WhatUsersDo £25

I do website testing at WhatUsersDo and it’s so easy!  I get paid £5 per test and some of them are only a question or two.

This was my payment for tests completed in December, but I already know I should be getting around £70 in February for the tests I completed in January as I did a lot more.

Read my blog post easily make money from home by testing websites for my review or sign up here!

    Personal eBay £30

As predicted for the last couple of months, my eBay sales have dropped.  Last year I consistently made over £100 per month selling our unwanted and outgrown toys, clothes and shoes on eBay.  I've barely got anything left to sell and I gave a lot to charity last month, but still managed to bag £30 in extra pocket-money for the month.

    Matched betting £41.04

A pretty quiet month compared to last month.  This was really lucrative for me in the beginning, but after two years it's dying down as I have been gubbed from so many good accounts.  I still check it at the weekends and sometimes there are good offers for me.  There are other methods to learn, but I only bother with the easiest ways so I limit my potential income.  I made around £1500 in the first couple of months when I started matched betting and I highly recommend it for the startup offers, even if you don't continue with it long-term.

I highly recommend matched betting as it's made me £5000 in just under two years which is tax-free cash.  At first it was very time-consuming, but once I got the hang of it I could make around £50 per hour with the little time I spent doing it.  As a side-hustle it is a brilliant and fun way to make extra money from home. There's no need to do every offer and you can take your time working through the sign up offers.

I recommend using Profit Accumulator for matched betting as a beginner.  I've always used them since starting.  They have so many guides and walk you through the process in the first few offers.  If you get stuck you can ask a question in the forum and someone will get back to you.  They also have a 30 day money back guarantee on their memberships, plus you can try the first couple of offers without even signing up to anything to see that it really does work and is so simple once you get the hang of the free bet offers!

Get ready for a blog post stuffed full of resources to help you make money online, blogging, from smart phone apps and other side hustles at home!

Welcome to my monthly income report where I share how much money I have managed to make from home.  This income is from freelance blog writing, various side hustles online, apps for mystery shopping, website testing, matched betting, online selling and I also include any cashback I have earned.

To read an in-depth reason behind sharing my income reports start with the blog post why I publish income reports and click here to discover the top 3 ways I made money from home in 2017.

If you missed it then I recently published How I made £35000 from home in 2018 so do pop over for a read!

Here goes, from smallest to largest...

My December 2018 blogger and online earnings income breakdown

Income report - how I made £2500 online in december from blogging and side

Please note - the below are my totals before any deductions, so my total turnover for the month, not including any expenses.  My yearly business expenses are around £4000.  I also save £500 per month to cover my tax, national insurance, student loan and pension.  So my total monthly business expenses, tax savings and so on are around £830.  So deduct this from the overall figure at the end of this blog post for an idea of my take-home pay.

    From smallest to largest:

    Top Cashback £4.42

My Top Cashback amounts seem to be smaller recently, but because I've not been buying very much online.  I've not booked any holidays or flights for this year yet either.  My car insurance, MOT and home insurance are all due in the spring, so I'm hoping to get some nice cashback for these!  I'm on a saving mission at the moment so I'm not spending much on home improvements which is keeping our cashback levels low.  I do still buy things we need from eBay and so I always get a little cashback for all these purchases (around 1%)  as well as any Holland and Barrett online shops - they usually give 10-12% cashback which is quite a lot!

We’ve had over £800 from Top Cashback, as a household, since signing up in April 2016.  You’re crazy if you’re not doing it.  It's money back on things you were going to buy anyway.  Learn how to earn cashback on things you already buy and be amazed with how much extra cash you have back in your pocket!

Read my blog post about it here: Over £800 cashback in 2 years with Top Cashback

    GreenJinn £5.05

This is my first payout from supermarket cashback app GreenJinn.  I've recently started using GreenJinn, Shopmium and Checkout Smart to see if I can save money on items I buy in-store.  you simply buy the items and then upload your receipt to get cashback if you've bought any of the items that are on offer on the apps.

Related - How to save money at the supermarket with Shopmium

    Roamler £10.29

I cashed out some of the money I'd had sitting in my Roamler balance for a while.  Roamler is an app where you can take part in mystery tasks in stores and other establishments to earn cash.

I have an invite code for you in this blog post - How to make money from your phone with the Roamler app [and a Roamler invite code for you]

    Scarf boutique £20.80

A couple of sales from people I presume had found my dedicated Twitter account for my scarf shop.  I decided early last year that I won't be continuing with my scarf shop anymore, so I've just been letting the scarves sell out, albeit it slowly!  I will be updating my shop soon to a pop-up shop for Wood-Create to showcase my husband's amazing furniture.  I've also some ideas for some smaller handmade wooden home decor items so we may be collaborating in the future and listing the items in my shop.  Watch this space!

If you want to browse what's left of my scarves, then pop to my shop today before they all sell out!  Here's the link: https://www.lyliarose.com/ourshop/

    Awin £21.07

Woohoo a payout from Awin!  I have around £280 in my pending balance, but some of them take so long to clear!  Awin  is an affiliate marketing platform where us publishers can have access to over 6000 brands!

If you want to make money from your blog and socials with affiliate marketing then it's the go-to platform with many brands you know and love already.

    WhatUsersDo £40

I do website testing at WhatUsersDo and it’s so easy!  I get paid £5 per test and some of them are only a question or two. This is by far my favourite side hustle.  It's fun to do and doesn't take much time.  There are usually more tests too, but I miss out on a lot as it's first come first served.  If you're more available than I am then you'll be able to take part in more tests!

Read my blog post easily make money from home by testing websites and sign up yourself!

    Personal eBay £106.38

I've been consistently making around £100 per month by selling our outgrown and unwanted items on eBay and sometimes on Facebook Marketplace.  It keeps our home clutter free and provides us with a bit of extra pocket money each month.  If items don't sell after a while, then I donate them to the charity shops.

I'm sure this income will reduce this year as I am so minimal now!  We cleared out nearly our whole attic last year, so I'm not sure there's much left to sell now aside from when our kids grow out of things.

    Matched betting £173.30

Much better than last month which was my lowest ever at under £40.  This month was great as there were lots of Christmas and advent calendar offers to take part in.

How I made £35000 from home, blogging and online in 2018

I can’t believe 2018 is over and it was my full year of working solely by myself.  I have been self-employed for over six years now, but I had part time employed jobs until May 2017 when I decided to take the plunge and go full time with my blog.  I also have a few side hustles too.  So in 2017 I had a part time job to supplement my income for the first five months of the year, but in 2018 I had no employed jobs at all, so it was my first full year of being full-time self-employed.

And what a great year it was!  I will share with you how I made just shy of £35000 in 2018 from home and online in this blog post.

In comparison, I made £26000 in 2017 online, blogging and from all my at-home money making ventures, so 2018 was a great improvement by £9000.

You can read my 2017 income report here: How I made £26000 from home in 2017

    2018 home income breakdown

    Blog writing £28,160.89

Blogging is my main focus and I now run four blogs!  Lylia Rose has been so successful at making money, but I want to diversify and niche down so I plan on making Lylia Rose more money focused, which you may have already noticed.  I also have a healthy living blog which I’ve had for a year and it’s started to make some money.  I took over my husband’s home and garden blog and monetised it this year too.  I started a travel blog only two months ago and I’ve just received my first paid work for that blog to complete in January.  I’m hoping to have four money making blogs that each provide a good income by the end of 2019.  I love to write and blog so this is the perfect way for me to make a living from home.

    Personal eBay £2,349.75

This is also from Facebook Marketplace where we have often successfully sold larger pieces of furniture or toys, but I mostly sell on eBay.  I think 2019 will be a quieter year for my eBay and personal sales as our home is so minimal now.  My wardrobe is down to approx. 50 pieces and I plan on a no-spend on clothes year in 2019 for myself.  We also cleared out our attic in 2018 and sold LOADS of things, so there’s barely anything up there now.  I will still root through and see if there is anything we don’t need in our home and cupboards, though it’s getting hard to cut it down any further now – I’m obsessed with clearing out and only having what we need and use.  The children are still growing, so their grown out clothes will be sold if not donated to charity.  I don’t think I own anything of value to sell now!  I got a new phone, we purchased 2xTVs and also sold our dishwasher in 2018 so we had some nice big sales throughout the year which really bumped up our total.  Though take off the fees and postage and packaging costs and we probably only made around £1000 in reality!

    Matched betting £2,307.03

I love matched betting and I’ve been doing it for two years now.  Doing the sign up offers I made over £1700 in the first three months!  I started with around £100 or so, I can’t remember exactly but it wasn’t a lot and I worked my way through the offers building up my ‘matched betting pot’ as I went along.  If you have more money to start then you can make more quicker.

Pacing it out allowed me to learn what I was doing without rushing or making mistakes.  It’s an amazing way to cover all eventualities on a bet at a bookies to then take advantage of a free bet and walk away with profit.  It’s been featured in The Guardian and other newspapers and is a great way to make money from home.  I only wish I’d started sooner.

Click here to try Profit Accumulator today! They are the company I have always used and they explain everything so well.  There’s a forum and also their customer support is amazing.  I’ve had lightning fast email conversations with them when I’ve needed a dummies guide to an offer and they are very good at explaining everything.

    Referrals / Affiliate marketing £1,043.94

One thing I still haven’t cracked in 2018 is affiliate marketing.  It’s still a nice extra boost to my income and I would love to increase this in 2019.

Awin is a great platform to use and has so many brands you’ll already know and love to promote.  Sign up to Awin as a publisher here for access to 6000+ brands affiliate schemes!  Plus, once you’re signed up you can join their own affiliate programme and make £30 for anyone you successfully refer to them!

    LR shop sales £382.59

These are sales from my online shop which currently sells scarves.  I used to stock around 500 items of fashion accessories and jewellery, but now there are under 20 scarves left.  I’ve decided to sell off everything and then I won’t continue with this venture anymore.  Watch out for a new pop up shop on my website in 2019 that will showcase some amazing handmade new and reclaimed furniture from my husband’s woodcraft shop at Wood-Create.

Side hustles - website testing, receipts, mystery tasks £349.79

I love side hustles from home!  Not only are they a great way to make extra cash, but they can be fun too.  I snap photos of my receipts to collect points that can be turned into cash.  I also answer surveys and do random mystery tasks in stores.  My favourite side hustle is probably website testing that pays £5 for testing out websites and it sometimes only takes 5 minutes.

    Cashback £178.08

I love getting cashback and this amount is actually smaller than I was expecting, but I think we’ve calmed down somewhat on the huge doing-up-our-house purchases.  Although this is only my cashback figure and my husband has cashback accounts too, so as a household we definitely made more over the year.  In fact, over two years we made £800 cashback in total on things we were going to buy anyway!

I use cashback sites, apps and also signed up for the Curve card just for the introductory cashback offer.  If you sign up for a Curve card with my referral code and link then we’ll both get £5 cashback: FL2KH at https://dw92j.app.goo.gl/ZV9a

    Resell £141.58

I dabbled in reselling at the end of 2017 and decided not to pursue it any further so just sold off what I had left at the start of 2018 for pence.  It would need a lot more time and I just can’t give it that at the moment with full-time blogging and two young children.  I do enjoy selling online, but I would definitely need to devote most of my week if not all to make it a successful business.

    Ads £42.79

I closed my ad accounts in 2018 and cashed out the remaining balances.  I never made much from ads as I only had them in my footer.  Instead I am now testing out affiliate banners in blog posts.

    Outgoings

Of course £35000 is my total turnover, not profit, and I do have outgoings.  My total business expenses for the year were just over £3500.

Some of my income is tax free too.  Matched betting profit is classed as gambling profits by HMRC and is tax-free, as is cashback which is seen as a discount on a purchase (albeit it delayed) and also personal selling of old/unwanted items not for a profit, so almost £5000 is tax-free.  Though again, that’s turnover and from the personal selling I would have had eBay fees and postage costs which I don’t bother to document, but they’d probably be quite a chunk!  My fees for matched betting are £14.99 per month and there are no fees or expenses with my cashback.

This is a great article about what you pay tax on when you make extra money from home: https://moneysavinganswers.com/personal/tax/making-extra-money-paying-tax/

Out of the profit left over, around £26000, I will then have tax, national insurance and student loan repayments to pay.  I also put a small amount into savings for my pension.  I save £500 per month to cover all this.  Obviously this blog post reflects earnings for 2018 and not the actual tax year, so my 2018-2019 tax return will be a different amount as the tax year starts in April.  Wouldn’t it be great if the tax year was just from January 1st to December 31st?!

I am really pleased with my income from home in 2018 and I really hope it continues.  I love working for myself, even though it does present many challenges.  I hope to diversify my income in 2019 by increasing my earnings on my other websites and hopefully helping my husband with his new furniture making business.  I’d like to increase my affiliate income too.

  4. Blog and home income report November 2018

    Posted on

Get ready for a blog post stuffed full of resources to help you make money online, from smart phone apps and from home!

Welcome to my monthly income report where I share how much money I have managed to make from home.  This income is from freelance blog writing, various side hustles online, apps for mystery shopping, website testing, matched betting, online selling and I also include any cashback earned.  To read an in-depth reason behind sharing my income reports start with the blog post why I publish income reports and click here to discover the top 3 ways I made money from home in 2017.

Here goes, from smallest to largest...

My November 2018 blogger and online earnings income breakdown

blogger Blog and Home Income Report NOVEMBER 2018 (2)

Please note - the below are my totals before any deductions, so my total turnover for the month, not including any expenses.  My yearly business expenses last year were about £4000 and so far they look the same this year too.  I also save £500 per month to cover my tax, national insurance, student loan and pension.  So my total monthly business expenses and tax, etc savings are around £830.  So deduct this from the overall figure at the end of this blog post for an idea of my take-home pay.

    From smallest to largest:

    Shopmium cashback £2.50

This is a new entry in my income reports as I have only just signed up to this app.  I'm a bit late to the party I know!  It's a fab cashback app with offers on lots of branded items in the main UK supermarkets.

Simply sign up by clicking my referral link here  and enter my referral code 46e3t – there is sometimes a freebie in the app if you do this…  at the time of typing it’s a free Nutella jar for you!

Read my review here: How to save money at the supermarket with Shopmium

    Curve cashback £5

    Get FREE MONEY from Curve!

Curve is an app and also a Mastercard debit card with which you can use any of your bank cards or credit cards to pay for a purchase, but you only have to carry around the Curve card.  You use the app to control which card you pay with.  You also get 1% cashback for the first three months on three retailers from their selection (including supermarkets), so it’s worth paying for everything in your 3 chosen stores for at least three months using the Curve card to take advantage of this.  It costs you nothing as Curve is just like a third party, so you still pay for the purchases using your own bank card at no cost to you.

Plus, the best bit, you and me both get £5 cashback if you sign up with my code: FL2KH at https://dw92j.app.goo.gl/ZV9a

It costs nothing to sign up to their free service and you’ll get £5 for free for using my code and the 1% cash back for three months at no extra cost to you.  It’s basically free money!  Plus, you'll get your own referral code so if you sign all your friends and family up then you'll get £5 for each referral too (and they get £5 too!).

    Top Cashback £8.73

We’ve now had over £800 from Top Cashback, as a household, since signing up in April 2016.  You’re crazy if you’re not doing it.  It's money back on things you were going to buy anyway.  Learn how to earn cashback on things you already buy and be amazed with how much extra cash you have back in your pocket!

Read my latest blog post about it here: Over £800 cashback in 2 years with Top Cashback

    Shoppix £10

Another new entry on my income reports from Shoppix!  This is a smart phone app that gives you tokens in exchange for receipts and when you reach a threshold you can exchange these tokens for cash or vouchers!  I cashed out £10 to my PayPal.

If you enter 52YFMN8U when you download the Shoppix app, we can both get 200 tokens when you snap a valid receipt and complete the profile survey!

    WhatUsersDo £20

I do website testing at WhatUsersDo and it’s so easy!  I get paid £5 per test and some of them are only a question or two.

Read my blog post easily make money from home by testing websites and sign up yourself!

    Online scarf sales £35.10

This is the total sales from my online scarf boutique where I sell a few printed scarves.  There are a few left with 20% off currently and they make great Christmas gifts!

    Matched betting £36.96

My quietest matched betting month ever, but I am now restricted from the offers for most of the good bookies!  My strategy was just to ride out making money from this for as long as possible and it is coming to an end after almost two years.  Some people only do the sign up offers which took me around six weeks to complete and I made £1500 from just those offers.  Some people use various strategies to pretend to be a real customer and do it long-term, some even claim to make a full-time living!  My plan was to do the sign up offers and continue doing the reload offers for as long as possible, until all the bookies realised what I was doing and gubbed me!  It's been a great ride as I have made over £5000 profit since starting in January 2017!

I've been consistently making around £100 per month by selling our outgrown and unwanted items on eBay and sometimes on Facebook Marketplace.  It keeps our home clutter free and provides us with a bit of extra pocket money each month.  If items don't sell after a while, then I donate them to the charity shops.

    October 2018 Income Breakdown

Blog and Home Income Report September 2018 (1)

The below are my totals before any deductions, so my total turnover for the month.  My yearly business expenses last year were approximately £4000.  I also save £500 per month to cover my annual tax, national insurance, student loan repayments and pension savings.  So my total monthly business expenses and business savings are approximately £830 currently.  So this amount can be deducted straight away from the overall figure at the end of this blog post for a rough indication of my take-home pay.

Personal eBay and Facebook Marketplace - £191.50

A nice bit of income from my personal sales on eBay this month which was mostly due to selling my old iPhone.  I had an upgrade back in the spring/summer and only just got round to selling my phone.  I was going to keep it as a spare, but decided it's probably best to sell before it goes down in value too much.  Touch wood I don't break my new phone!

    Matched betting - £53.74

This figure would be £170 higher, but I made a massive boo-boo!  I made my first big matched betting human error mistake and I was absolutely gutted!  Those who matched bet will understand this, but those who don't will not understand the terminology - I accidentally copied the liability figure and lay that instead of laying the lay figure!  What an idiot!  Always double check the amounts!  So instead of making £10 profit on this particular bet I went and blooming lost £170.  I felt horrid about it for a couple of days.  It wiped out all my profit so far for the month, but I managed to still make over £50 in the last week of October, so felt a bit better!

I have made over £5500 profit since starting in January 2017, so I'm still in a lot of profit.

By following the instructions you will always make a profit if you take part in the risk-free offers, but remember human error can still happen, so always check and check again!  Don't rush!

I've also been gubbed from a lot of accounts now so I can't take part in their offers.  I knew this would happen as I don't have a strategy to keep my bookie accounts.  My game plan was always to just do the offers for as long as possible until they all gub me!  I feel that day is coming and perhaps my matched betting days are limited now.  There are others who take it more seriously and place 'mug' bets which are pretend bets that make them look like a real customer.  I just take part in all the offers to make a profit by matched betting so I probably stick out like a sore thumb when they are reviewing accounts!

I still highly recommend matched betting as it's made me £5500 in just under two years which is tax-free cash.  At first it was very time consuming, but once I got the hang of it I could make around £50 per hour with the little time I spent doing it.  As a side-hustle it is a brilliant and fun way to make extra money from home. There's no need to do every offer and you can take your time working through the sign up offers.  They are the most lucrative and I made my first £1500 in around 6 weeks!

I recommend using Profit Accumulator for matched betting as a beginner.  They have so many guides and walk you through the whole process in the first few offers.  If you are stuck you can ask a question in the forum and someone will get back to you.  They also have a 30 day money back guarantee on their memberships, plus you can try the first couple of offers without even signing up to anything to see that it really does work and is so simple once you get the hang of the free bet offers!
