Getting the work life balance just right

How do I find the right work/life balance?
Achieving a solid work/life balance is imperative for your mental health and happiness. If you want a high quality of life, then you need to make sure the balance is right for you, otherwise everything else can begin to feel off kilter, too.
The ideas here will help you to get your work/life balance just right so that you can enjoy a happier life from now.

Establish your boundaries
Start by establishing your boundaries, both at work and at home.
Make sure you know exactly what is expected of you.
Make sure your colleagues and boss know that you can’t just be on call 24/7.
People without boundaries often get taken advantage of, so make sure you know what yours are and set them.
Prioritise your time
Prioritising your time will help you to figure out what’s important and what’s not.
Knowing what’s important is key if you want to get more done.
You need to be able to write out your tasks for the day, time block them, and then work towards getting them done.
However, having too many ‘top priority’ tasks can be stressful and unrealistic. Instead, choose a maximum of three. Anything else you get done will be a bonus.
Get selfish
Everybody needs ‘me time’ to reset and feel good again.
Be selfish about your ‘me time’. If you don’t want to do something, don’t get FOMO (fear of missing out). Just say no.
Being selfish with your time isn’t actually selfish - you’re becoming a more relaxed, stress free version of yourself that your family and friends will no doubt appreciate more.
Avoid doing mindless things
Don’t spend your time doing mindless things, as they will often make you feel worse and slow actual work down.
Stay away from emails, Facebook, and other distractions.
Find the right role
Finding the right role for your chosen lifestyle can be tough, but there are ways you can test out different positions to see if they’re right for you. Looking at apprenticeships in london with archapprentices.co.uk can give you an idea of what’s available and help you to learn on the job.
Learn to let go
Leave work at work and learn how to let go of things that have gone on over the course of a day.
Holding on to conflict is only hurting you in the long run!
Exercise
Exercise will help you to let go of the stress from work, and can even make you a better worker. It’ll make you happier and healthier in general too.
Find ways you can exercise more, such as taking more steps or biking to work.
Exercising in the morning can set you up for the day and will help you to have a more productive time at work.
Getting your work/life balance right can be tough. However, working towards it is imperative if you want a high quality of life. The balance may be different for everybody, so listen to your inner guidance system and do what makes you happiest.
