4 best family theme parks in Australia + money saving tips
Posted on
Australia is one country I have longed to visit ever since I was a child. My grandparents had friends in Australia who would occasionally visit and I found it fascinating they lived on the other side of the planet.
I haven’t made it yet, but I’d love for us to take a family trip to Australia one day. Even my eight year old daughter was talking about Australia recently and how she’d like to go… right after she said she’s like to be reincarnated as a koala bear when she dies!!
If we do make it for a family trip then no doubt the kids will want to explore some of the best theme parks Australia has to offer. The only trouble will be picking which theme park to visit as there are so many that look great.
Here’s a list of some of the best theme parks in Australia and tips to save money on tickets.

Queensland.com say “If you could bundle all the things you love about Australia into a theme park, you'd find yourself at Aussie World, the Sunshine Coast's only theme park.”
It scores 4/5 on TripAdvisor from 594 review and wins one of their Travellers’ Choice awards for 2020.
For a family, it offers 30 colourful rides suitable for a range of ages without the little ones missing out on all the fun. It’s renowned for being a classic theme park with something for the whole family.
Money saving tip: Buy your tickets online to save money and skip the queues. Looking for your Aussie World tickets at Best Tickets will help you to easily find the best online prices. Best Tickets will compare prices between 40 official ticket vendors and five resale platforms.
2. Luna Park Sydney
Luna Park Sydney calls itself Sydney’s ‘most iconic amusement park and tourist destination.’ It’s a heritage listed park which opened in 1935 featuring beautiful 1930s Art Deco architecture throughout.
An old treasure, it offers classic rides you’ll know and love from The Ferris Wheel , Dodgems and the Carousel to a traditional rollercoaster, as well as exhilarating, spinning and hair raising rides!
Money saving tip: At Luna Park you pay per ride. To save money and make the most of the park, check out the dates for their ‘Wild Weekends’ when you can receive unlimited rides for 5.5 hours for one inclusive price.
3. Dreamworld

Dreamworld is the biggest theme park on Australia’s Gold Coast!
Many people report it’s like several theme parks in one as it has so many different sections, each with their own theme: Ocean Parade, Dreamworks Experience, ABC, Kids World, Tiger Island, Main Street, Gold Rush Country, and Whitewater World.
Attracting one million visitors each year, the parks most popular rides include Buzz Saw, Sidewinder, Pandemonium, The Giant Drop and Escape from Madacascar.
Money saving tip: Pack your own lunch and water bottle! This also saves time on deciding where to eat and queuing, so more time for fun and rides!
4. Warner Bros. Movie World

Movie World has been voted one of the ‘best of the best’ attractions in Australia and is awarded the 2020 Travellers Choice. They consistently receive rave reviews from happy visitors!
You can meet your favourite stars and super-heroes as well as rife the tallest, longest and fastest HyperCoaster in the Southern Hemisphere!
Perfect for younger kids too as they can experience the Yogi Bear 4-D theatre, meet Tom and Jerry, splash around and cool off in the Looney Tunes Splash Zone and ride family friendly coasters too!
Money saving tip: By choosing a Village Roadshow theme park pass you can choose from a variety of theme parks for three days or seven days for an exhilarating theme park holiday! If you’re planning on visiting more than one theme park on your trip then it makes sense to buy a bulk pass for a collection of theme parks, as it’s better value than buying individual entry tickets per park.
