Taking time for yourself and looking after number 1 has never been more important than it is right now. Everyone has had a tough year, the majority of people have either been rushed off their feet working crazy hours, or you’ve been furloughed, possibly made redundant and therefore taking care of yourself has probably been taking a back seat.
2021, however, is the time to put yourself first. It’s the time to sort out your routine, to look after your skin and get healthier. It’s not easy to rewire your habits and learn new things so make sure to take your time and not be too hard on yourself.
Read on to discover how you can best focus on you in 2021.
Learn to practice mindfulness
Practising mindfulness is a nice and calm place to start, there are lots of apps that can help you start your journey. According to the NHS, paying more attention to your thoughts and feelings, can help to improve your mental wellbeing. Meditating can help you to feel more in control of your feelings and this in turn helps you to feel more in control in general.
Look and feel good
The next step is revamping your skin care and fitness. Once you are feeling good on the inside then it’s time to make your skin and body feel good. There are lots of websites that can help you to identify which areas of your skin are problematic, this can then give you a good starting point for knowing what to put on your skin.
Your physical fitness is also key to being your best self, setting yourself some goals to achieve and something to aim for can make a world of difference. Whether you are just starting out with your fitness journey or you’ve been on your journey for a while and just wanting to step it up a bit.
Putting yourself and your goals first, if that goal is to lose weight, then you should be aware of all the different options available to you. Whether it’s something more serious like having surgery to aid your weight loss or just being more thorough when tracking calories.
Move your body
Making sure to move your body regularly can massively improve you mental and physical health. It does not necessarily have to be running 5k every day, unless that’s what you’re into. Just making sure to get out of the house and go for a walk can help you to look at things differently. Yoga is also a good option; it gives you time to yourself and to be alone with your thoughts.
Positive vibes only
Surround yourself with positive people. This includes curating your social media to only include things that make you feel positive, if you see something or someone who doesn’t make you feel good, then unfollow them. They won’t notice and you have to be sure that you’re looking after yourself first and foremost.
