Money Making Mums Blogger Interview: Katy from Katykicker
Welcome to my Money Making Mums guest series all about how to earn a decent living from home, even as a busy parent. As well as guest posts from awesome bloggers sharing their tips and tricks, I am now also interviewing relevant bloggers to discover how exactly they make money from home.
As you’ve probably guessed, I love making money from home. As a busy mum to two young children, working from home for myself provides me with the flexibility I need to care for my children and avoid high full time childcare costs. It also means I get to do what I love. I’m an advocate of earning money online and from apps, and I’m always looking for new ways to make more income from home.
I’ve decided to invite other bloggers and money making mums to share even more ways us busy mums can make money from home. If you’d like to feature in this series with a guest post or you’d like to be interviewed, please do get in touch.
This week I’m interviewing Katy from Katykicker:
Hello, welcome to my Money Making Mums Interview. Please tell me a little about who you are, where you’re from and where you blog.
I am Katy, 29 from Essex. I live with my husband Thomas and our daughter Daisy. I blog over at http://katykicker.com and I blog about making and saving money, parenting, lifestyle and just about anything else. I like to say that my niche is me - Katy!
This series is all about mums being able to make money from home. Can you tell me what you do from home to make money?
I do SO much! eBay selling, matched betting, surveys, paid content writing, social media management and my biggest source of income is my own blog, Katykicker. I make money from advertising, affiliate sales and sponsored blog content.
What makes it suitable for mums?
I’m a Mum myself and the ways that I make money from home are suitable for just about anyone. I’m not saying that you can begin a blog tomorrow and be making money in no time, however, you can certainly work on building that up while you explore other avenues.
What do you love about working from home?
I love being able to be home with my daughter, enjoy my home and always have time for my friends and family.
What are your top three negatives to working from home?
No sick pay, no holiday pay and no work colleagues to see in the flesh on a daily basis and have a chat with.
If you could only pick one, either working from home or working in an office for the rest of your life, which would you pick?
Working from home, of course. I love it and I would HATE to go back to working for someone else now, in any capacity.
Lots of people say they’d find it hard to stay motivated if working alone at home. What keeps you motivated?
I stay motivated by visualising what I want to achieve for my family. I set myself monthly goals, and I share those on my blog. These keep me accountable throughout the month and I refer back to them when I want some motivation.
Do you have a favourite quote to keep you inspired?
Love the life you live. I am and this encourages me on every day. I want to always be able to enjoy my home and my family, and working hard when I do work online helps me.
Do you have any advice or words of wisdom to share with mums wanting to make their own income from home?
Be realistic when you start out. Nobody becomes successful overnight. Not many people make BIG money in their first year working from home. By being realistic, and setting achievable goals for yourself, you will create your own motivation to keep going and work smarter and harder.
Thanks so much to Katy for taking part in my Money Making series. Would you like to take part? Contact me above^
