Heck, the majority of us could say that about anything when it comes to health. But, teeth are often a primary source of neglect, sometimes due to our dislike for dentists, but sometimes due to laziness.
How often do you try to forget about them between those annual checks? Most of us ignore niggles, stains, and swellings far more than we should.

1. Coconut oil
It’s everywhere at the moment, and it should be in your mouth too apparently. Oil pulling has been around for centuries and is even described in some ancient Indian texts.
Yet, it’s made a significant reemergence recently, with the world going wild for coconut oil pulling.
In this practice, you melt a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth and swirl it around for 5-20 minutes.
Then, you spit it out, rinse, and brush.
Doing this once a day is thought to have many benefits for gum and tooth health, as well as helping to whiten your gnashers.
Bear in mind that it’s crucial to brush straight after. The main reason this works is that oil draws out harmful bacteria. You don’t want those crawling around in your mouth for too long afterward!
2. Green tea
Green tea is also worth a mention here.
It’s good for us in every way, so is it any surprise that it can help our teeth, too?
Mainly, green tea can have a positive impact on periodontal health. This is thought to be due to catechin, which can reduce inflammation in the body.
Periodontal disease is a chronic inflammation. So, it makes sense that those who drink green tea on a regular basis are less susceptible.
3. Apple cider vinegar
While not quite as stylish as coconut oil, apple cider vinegar is another thing which seems to appear often. And, rubbing small amounts on your teeth can act as a natural whitener, as well as cleansing your teeth and gums.
Bear in mind, though, that apple cider vinegar is incredibly acidic. We all know that acid and teeth aren’t a good mix, so much like with coconut oil, make sure to rinse your teeth with lots of water and then clean thoroughly after this practice!
