Ooh this bar is exotically luscious! It was like sunshine in my mouth! Totally yummy. This will be a perfect summer treat with the citrus and pineapple flavour. Energising, fulfilling and refreshing all at the same time.
These bars are promoted as great for healthy skin, energy and a boost for the immune system. They have a fantastic dose of vitamin C.
I've seen the superfood 'baobab' (pronounced bay-oh-bab) on packaging before but this is the first time I've had anything containing it. This bar was in a recent prize hamper I won from nutritionandhealingfoods.com and I'm very glad it was. I've already researched baobab, started using the powder (blog post soon) and have been searching for a multipack of these bars!
In short, baobab is a superfood (or superfruit) from the African 'Tree of Life' baobab tree. It's a nutrient dense natural raw food packed with fibre (50%), vitamin C, potassium, calcium and antioxidants. It contains way more antioxidants than any other superfruit including blueberries, goji berries and even acai berries. The baobab fruit is also sourced sustainably and ethically from many African communities who own the trees.
These bars are vegetarian, vegan, wheat and gluten free, raw, organic, dairy free and have no added sugar. They contain only seven ingredients which are all natural; not a preservative or additive in sight. To top it off (and not surprisingly) they won 'best healthy snack' at the 2015 Beauty Shortlist Awards. If anyone ever fancies treating me, just sent a box of these my way!
