7 parts of your kitchen you may want to renovate

Posted on

Over time your kitchen will start to feel dated, and this might mean that you want to renovate it. On the other hand, you might have moved into a new house or just feel like something new. Whatever the reason is, here are some tips when it comes to renovating your kitchen.

7 parts of your kitchen you may want to renovate

Kitchen Island

Installing a kitchen island can hugely increase the size of your kitchen. If you don’t have space to put an island, then you are flat out of luck. However, if you have the room, then you should definitely consider buying one. A kitchen island will increase the amount of worktop surface you have, and you can keep kitchen equipment and food inside the island, too. You can even get some tall chairs and enjoy eating meals at your island if you are stuck for space in other rooms or feel like a change every now and again. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to get a kitchen island as they are incredibly useful. If you’ve ever run out of worktop surface or struggled to find places to store things, then a kitchen island is perfect for you.

Sink

It might be time to get a new sink. This might be due to your old sink getting old or not being good enough. Either way, if you get a new sink, there is a lot to consider. You need to decide how much space to allow for draining space next to your sink as whether you want to splash out on a second sink, too. All of that without having to decide between getting a pot or metal sink or what kind of taps to get. You will, however, want to ensure that it goes with the rest of your kitchen and doesn’t look out of place. This might include colors or how modern the sink looks. If you decide to get a new sink, you might also want to get a new sink mixer too. Because, why not?

New Kitchen Range

If getting a new sink isn’t enough, then you might want an entirely new kitchen range. This will replace all of your worktops, cupboards as well as your sink. This will completely change what your kitchen looks. If you decide to get a new kitchen range, then you will want to make sure that you leave space for any fitted appliances and that it goes with your tiles/walls. There are a lot of kitchen range designs to choose from. Once you have an idea of what you want your kitchen to look like you might want to add some of the other things on this list to your kitchen and make them fit perfectly into your new kitchen. That might be getting a kitchen island or fitting a dishwasher into your new range.

Dishwasher

If you don’t have a dishwasher, then you might want to consider getting one. They can be a massive time saver. Instead of having scrub dishes at the end of the day, you can pop them all into the dishwasher and let the machine do all of the hard work. Instead of wasting time washing dishes you can get on with more important jobs or spend some time relaxing and taking care of yourself. You can get a dishwasher that fits into your current kitchen range or get one as part of your brand new one. Whatever you choose, having a dishwasher will be a massive asset in your kitchen. It might even convince you to try recipes and types of cooking that you usually don’t bother with due to the number of dirty dishes they produce. Things are a lot easier when you don’t have to worry about washing up afterwards.

Fridge and Freezer

Unfortunately, fridges and freezers break over time and need to be replaced. This is a great excuse the upgrade to a combined fridge freezer. This single unit has everything you could want and means that you don’t need to have two separate units in your kitchen. A lot of fridge freezers come with additional functions such as ice cubes and cold water nozzles. These can be nice, useful additions. You might want to upgrade your fridge or freezer because you are expanding your family and need the space, or you might just want to treat yourselves to a little more space. There are few things more annoying than being unable to fit things in the fridge and having to play some kind of cold food-based jigsaw as you try and find the best way placing everything.

Stove

If your stove is feeling dated, then it might be time to get a new one. Newer models of stove heat up much quicker, use less energy and tend to have more functions. A new stove might have additional hobs on top or offer options such as a broiler and other useful additions. These extras can be useful and might not seem that important until you have them and realise the difference. Simply having a fan oven rather than a regular convection oven can make a big difference when cooking food. New stoves also often have digital clocks with timer functions, so that you will never burn anything again.

Kitchen Equipment

No kitchen renovation would be complete without some nice new kitchen equipment. There is no point making your kitchen all new and shiny if you are using the same dull pots and pans. This makes it the perfect time to invest in high quality, long lasting items. You might also want to get a new kettle and toaster set, too. Items that live on your worktop will become part of your kitchen as much as your fridge or sink, so making sure that they look the part is important. While you are making changes to your kitchen, it might also be time to consider what other equipment you might need such as a blender or new toaster, too.
