  1. 7 Treatments That Every Beauty Lover Needs This Summer

    Posted on

Everyone loves a pamper and Summer is the perfect excuse to splash out on some “me” time, now is the time to put you first and prepare yourself for summer with these indulgent yet affordable beauty treatments! Even if you are not going away this summer you do not need to miss out, you can still have a great time in the sun at home, so treat yourself, get your toes ready for your sandals and your skin bronzed for your summer wardrobe. Here are the seven treatments that every “Beauty Lover” definitely needs in the lead up to those summer months…

7 Treatments That Every Beauty Lover Needs This Summer

    1. Go hair free with a Laser Hair Removal Treatment

We all know the pain and time consuming process of keeping unwanted body hair at bay, but you can prevent the hassle of constant shaving by having laser hair removal treatment. Laser hair treatment involves lasers targeting your hair follicles to reduce hair regrowth. This treatment is becoming very popular due to its long term results, treatment time can vary depending on where on the body you want treated. you usually have to have 4-6 treatments with a couple of weeks in between each appointment to fully see the results. Therefore if you start now with laser hair removal your legs will be perfectly prepped just in time for Summer leaving you more time to enjoy the sun with loved ones. However as lasers are involved in this treatment it is crucial you understand the risks before having an appointment. In rare cases scars, discoloration of the skin and burns can occur and if you feel your beauty practitioner has been negligent you can be speak to a legal expert who can advise you how to make a personal injury compensation claim for any damage caused.

    1. Get your nails on point with a Manicure & Pedicure

Everyone wants to look their best for summer so why not have a manicure and pedicure? Despite being a really simple treatment having freshly manicured nails can really transform your confidence and give you that extra positivity boost! Thus this is an affordable and relatively quick beauty treatment that you definitely need this summer. There are a few nail treatment options for you to choose from ranging from fake nails, file and polish, a french pedicure or manicure, or a gel polish finish, to name just a few. All of which give a different look and some may require re-visits to the salon to keep your nails perfect.

    1. Achieve that sun-kissed look with Tanning Treatments

Today it is very easy to fake that desirable holiday bronzed tan even if you have not had a chance to get away. Tanning treatments available to you include  spray tans, sunbeds, tinted moisturisers, gradual tans and shower tanning foams. You can choose to tan yourself at home but if you want to ensure an all over even tan a visit to the beauty salon could be the best bet. You do not want a fake tan nightmare if you have a big event coming up such as a festival or summer wedding therefore paying a bit more for a professional to bronze your skin does seem worthwhile. However if you do plan to complete the treatment yourself make sure you invest in tanning mitts to prevent orange hands and exfoliate beforehand to ensure streak free coverage.

    1. Make your skin glow with a Facial

A facial is the perfect beauty treatment for summer and can help prevent any sun damage on your face. A facial also provides a relaxing break from reality and are a great way to de-stress, so why wouldn’t you try a facial out this summer? There are numerous different types of facials that focus on different results for your skin including exfoliating facials, cleansing facials, moisturising facials and anti aging facials.  Facials have a lot of skin benefits that you might not realise they can rejuvenate the skin and help circulate blood flow across your face reducing the evidence of aging such as wrinkles. They also improve your skin’s elasticity and can even reduce sinus congestion as well as improving your skin tone.

    1. Release any tension with a Bamboo Joint Release Experience

If you feel stressed it is likely your body is feeling the strain too, this is where the Bamboo Joint Release Experience comes in. This is a brand new treatment that any beauty lover should try out. This is very similar to a hot stone massage as the bamboo sticks are heated and rolled across your back very slowly. This targets your knots and tight areas in your back helping you feel refreshed and relieved for weeks after the treatment. This treatment may be quite hard to find initially but is certainly growing in popularity and it is predicted to be a big beauty treatment this summer.

    1. Try something new with a Chocolate Treatment

Who doesn't love chocolate? Following research that chocolate in fact has more anti-aging antioxidants than blueberries or green tea, chocolate is now the new rage in beauty! You can now have many different chocolate beauty treatments for example, chocolate facials, chocolate body scrubs, chocolate lip balms, chocolate massages to chocolate hair masks. Chocolate nourishes your skin leaving your skin feeling moisturised and energized as well as detoxifying your skin from any impurities. Who would have thought chocolate had so many hidden talents?

    1. Protect your hair with an SPF Hair Treatment

Hair strands are very sensitive to sun damage, we all know the risks the sun has on our skin but the damaging effect it has on our hair is often overlooked. You can take steps to protect your hair from sun damage with SPF hair treatments that condition and protect your hair from the sun’s powerful UV rays. Additionally swimming in the sea or in a hotel pool can also damage your hair due to the dirt and chlorine in the water. Luckily you can prevent the extent of the damage by showering in clean water before swimming, this works because hair can only absorb so much, thus showering first means your hair absorbs the clean water leaving little room for the dirty chlorine-filled water to be absorbed.

All of these treatments will help pamper you so you are ready for summer, whichever beauty treatment you decide to try remember to research the treatment beforehand to check it is suitable for you as well as reading other client reviews to ensure the salon operates in a reputable and clean environment and the individual is qualified to carry out the treatment so you can fully relax and place your trust in them!

  2. How to Get the Perfect Summer Look

    Posted on

Summer is finally here and with it comes garden parties, beach days, and hopefully a holiday, or two. It’s a time where you’re feeling good so you definitely should be looking good. There are simple steps you can take to strut through the season in style.

How to Get the Perfect Summer Look

One of the most important things you need in the summer is a good skincare routine. Summer, with any luck, means plenty of sun. This can be absolutely glorious, but in those powerful rays it’s vital you take care of your skin. Make sure to moisture regularly, apply sun cream when you need to, and give yourself some rest periods in the shade. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if you fancy becoming bronzed, getting a spray tan could be the way forward.

Warm weather is lovely, but it can be hard to keep feeling fresh throughout the day. Perfume is a quick and easy fix for this. You can spritz some on at the start of the day, or why not pop a bottle in your handbag? Then you can freshen up as much as you like. Try the natural scents by Miller Harris, I think they go hand in hand with a summer day.

    Straw Handbag

Whether it’s for perfume and lipstick, or a good book and sun cream – you need a handbag to fit your daily needs in. Straw handbags are so on trend this year and it isn’t hard to see why. They’re perfect for the season and so versatile. Long gone are the times when they were just for a day at the beach. The straw handbag can now be used in your day to day routine.

    Palazzo Pants

I understand that in warmer weather not everyone wants to flash their skin. Palazzo pants are the way forward. They’re cool, lightweight, and come in such a variety of styles there’s one for every body type. Dress them up, dress them down, and they can take you from day to night.

    Pastel Colours

According to Glamour, pastels are set to be one of the biggest trends in summer.  Pastel colours are easy to co-ordinate with, and a statement piece of jewellery can make that much more an impact against a lighter background. Not to mention lighter colours will keep you much cooler in the sun.

I always find it so much easier to dress for the summer.  It's much more fun than dressing for the winter. Do you agree?

  3. Save money with ShopToList - a universal online wish list with price drop alerts

    Posted on

I have something really great to share with you today that will make your online shopping lives a lot easier.  Plus, it can save you money.  I’m forever finding cool things I want to buy online, but never able to find the webpage again or burying it deep in a sea of bookmarks.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a way to easily organise all the items you love from different websites into one place?  ShopToList is a genius browser extension that allows you to create a universal wish list and it even notifies you when the price on your saved items has reduced. In this blog post I’m going to take a look at all the features of this very handy and brand new online shopping tool.

ShopToList Universal Shopping Wish List Discount Notifier Browser Extension

ShopToList is the creation of co-founders Kevin and Pierre, two computer engineers in their mid-twenties.  After failing to launch a couple of other products for different reasons, they believe (and I believe) they have learned from their mistakes and cracked it with this product launch.  Not only is this a tool that can make all of our online lives so much easier and hassle free, but it can also save us money in the process.  All with a simple add of a browser extension and one click whenever we see a product we love, need or want.

ShopToList Universal Shopping Wish List Discount Notifier Browser Extension

    Your universal wish list

The browser extension works on all websites.  You can save and curate lists from all sorts of ecommerce stores.  When testing myself I was able to save items from my own small independent online scarf boutique, well known High Street stores and even eBay.  It supports all ecommerce platforms so you can create a list of all the different items you like from all the different retailers in one place.

It’s not just for clothes shopping either; you can save any items you like.  I saved a treadmill and office desk, as well as clothing and footwear.  Save a product by simply clicking on the little icon in your browser.  The item will be added to your main product page on the ShopToList website, but you can sort your products into more organised categories such as ‘electronics’, ‘garden’, ‘clothing’, ‘Bella’s birthday’ and so on, using the Lists function.  A new feature in the pipeline is the ability to share lists.  The website is still in beta so there will be new functions added as it progresses.

    Price drop notifications

If the products you save are ever reduced, you’ll receive an email letting you know they are cheaper.  Save the time and hassle of scouring all the sales yourself for that item you’re longing after.  Let ShopToList let you know instead.  Save yourself valuable time and money with no effort on your part, just a click or two.

Price drops and sales are a part of modern day retail and it’s too time consuming for us to check every single retailer or coupon site.  Let ShopToList do the hard work for you.  One of their founders tells me a customer saved £300 on a fridge this week, thanks to their price drop notifications!

ShopToList Universal Shopping Wish List Discount Notifier Browser Extension

    Save even more money

There’s a third feature which is coming soon which will enable you to save even more money.  If your product is found cheaper elsewhere online, you’ll be alerted.  This, along with price drop notifications, will really ensure you are getting the products you love at the best possible prices.

I’m really impressed with ShopToList’s current features and I look forward to the upcoming feature too.  This will make my online shopping so much more organised and hopefully save us some cash in the process.  It will be a lifesaver for birthday and Christmas shopping as I regularly browse so many different websites to get ideas for the kids for special events.  As a busy mum it will allow me to organise everything into categories and easily locate the items I have found online for future reference.  Of course, I also want the best prices for the items I am buying.  There’s nothing more annoying than making a big purchase only to find it cheaper elsewhere soon after.  With their ‘coming soon’ feature this will ensure this never happens.

How to save a product on ShopToList Universal Shopping Wish List Discount N

ShopToList is absolutely free and works without ads.  They have no plans whatsoever to add any ads in the future giving the user a clean clutter-free experience.  It works with every product on every website, so it really is the only wish list and price drop notification extension you need.  It works on Chrome, Safari and Firefox browsers or you can choose to copy and paste the links directly to their website.  The browser extension makes things so much easier so I’d recommend installing it.  There are also future plans for a mobile app, but for now just use it on your desktop.

As the website is so new and in beta mode they welcome any feedback or suggestions for new features.  Just try it out and let them know.  You can help to shape the best universal wish list on the web.

I’m sure you’ll be impressed with how simple and easy it is to use.  Visit and start creating your online wish lists in a matter of moments.

  4. The benefits of laser hair removal

    Posted on

Summer feels like it is actually here, well at least the past three days!  It’s been scorchio, even hotter than our recent holiday to Fuerteventura by a couple of degrees!  I’m not going to get too excited though as it looks set to drop ten degrees next week.  The sun is simply teasing us and leading us into a false sense of hope.

Don’t put those jumpers and boots away just yet!  Whilst the weather is lovely and I’m so much more comfortable in less clothing with a little more skin on show, it does mean it’s time to get skin ready for summer.  Skin needs exfoliating, nails need filing and polishing, but most of all it’s time to get rid of unwanted hair for silky smooth legs.  I was a religious shaver until last year when I discovered the longer lasting wax and converted.  But it’s still quite painful and expensive so I’m always looking for a better solution.

I think I may have found that solution and in this blog post I’m going to look at the benefits of laser hair removal.

What are the benefits of laser hair removal?

The benefits of laser hair removal

It’s a permanent hair removal solution.  Many of the hairs lie dormant, so several sessions are needed.  But the hair follicles that are zapped in each treatment won’t produce hair again.

    Cost effective

In the short term it seems expensive, but in the long term it’s a cost effective hair removal solution.  Especially when compared to waxing, just imagine how much money you spend on waxing each year or even buying expensive razors, gels and shave creams.

    Relatively pain free

Some people claim it’s not painful at all, but others say there is a slight discomfort or feeling of little pricks.  It can’t be as bad as waxing and ripping out the hair every 4-6 weeks.  Plus, no pain no gain!

The lasers only target the hair follicles leaving the surrounding skin undamaged.

The lasers are super quick and as can be seen in the below video, an underarm treatment only takes around 3 minutes.  It can even take place in your lunch break!

    Improved skin

When hair regrows after shaving it can cause lumpy, sore, itchy and irritable skin.  As the hair doesn’t regrow after laser hair removal there will be none of these symptoms.

    No more ingrown hairs

Laser hair removal is the only effective way to both prevent and eliminate those peky and sometimes uncomfortable ingrown hairs.

    It works on shaved areas

Unlike waxing, you don’t need to fully grow the hair between each session.  You can even shave!  It works on the hair follicles so no need to walk around with embarrassingly long hair anymore.

Where can I get laser hair removal?

If you are in or close to London then you can have laser hair removal treatment at Pulse Light Clinic. They have two clinics: Bank Clinic (1st Floor, Peek House, 20 East Cheap, London, EC3M 1EB, Tel 0207 523 5158) and Tottenham Court Road (5 Percy Street, London, W1T 1DG, Tel 0207 205 4085).

  5. Opening Your Eyes To Your Own Beauty

    Posted on

No matter how much time you spend on makeup, hair, clothing, and the other aspects of your appearance at the start of each day, most people will find it hard to see their own beauty. Finding it far too easy to fixate on the things which you would rather have different, it can be a battle to see yourself for what you are. Of course, this is a shame, as it leaves a lot of people feeling bad for no good reason. To help you out, this post will be exploring some of the methods which can be used to open your eyes to the way you look.

To begin this journey, it’s time to start looking at yourself in a different light. Mirrors are often deceptive, as they make it far too easy to choose the way you stand and position yourself, and a lot of people find themselves inspecting the parts they see as bad when using a tool like this. As a much more honest view, using video of yourself can be a great way to start you on the road to seeing your beauty. Using your phone, you should find it easy to take some shots of yourself completing normal tasks, and it will be surprising at how good these clips can make you feel.

Opening Your Eyes To Your Own Beauty

    Ask honest relatives and friends

Of course, looking at yourself is one of the things which got you into this mess, and avoiding it could be a good way to get yourself out. The people who know you best are those who are likely to be the most honest with you. Siblings and parents are best for this, as they are likely to be relentless when they think something looks bad, and supportive when they think it is good. Listening to compliments can be very hard. In reality, though, people don’t say these things if they don’t mean them, especially if they aren’t trying to impress you.

    Stop comparing

One of the worst things we do nowadays, especially due to social media and magazines, is compare ourselves to others.  We look at images of airbrushed beautiful models and wish we could have their features.  If this sounds like you, then stop.  Comparing yourself to an airbrushed model who has had their hair and make up done by a professional and a thousand photos of them taken to find the right one, then even that photo is edited, is ridiculous.  It's a pointless comparison.  Embrace your natural and real beauty.  Instead of focusing on the features you dislike about yourself, focus on those you do like and enhance them.

    Take action

Giving yourself a confidence boost is often one of the best ways to start seeing the natural beauty you have on display. Companies like The Belvedere Clinic specialise in providing treatments which can enhance the way you look, without having to spend weeks working on daily routines. While this likely isn’t necessary, this sort of action can be worth it if you feel down about yourself on a regular basis. Body confidence is very important, but it isn’t worth pretending to feel good about this part of life if you simply don’t.  Then it's time to take action and do something about the things that make you miserable if you genuinely can't change your perspective on them.

Hopefully, with all of this in mind, it will be a lot easier to start seeing yourself for what you are; a beautiful and radiant person. When you spend too much time looking in the mirror, it can be very easy to trick yourself into thinking you look bad. In reality, mirrors are often cruel in their depictions, and your imagination will almost always run away with itself. This doesn’t mean you should have to feel bad about yourself though and if something is really upsetting you on a daily basis then do something about it.
