Why taking a break without the kids is so important

Posted on

Vacations are the time you are meant to be able to kick back, relax, and enjoy the break from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

A break from the old routine that you follow day in day out can give you great respite, and will help you recharge your batteries.

Getting away from it all is a perfect tonic to counteract a hectic lifestyle...

Ah, but if only life was so easy!

If you're able to take a spontaneous moment in hand and book a weekend away off the cuff, then it’s more than likely you don’t have too many responsibilities.

Or, particularly, you’re not vacationing with kids. Especially young children. Unless your kids are old enough to keep themselves amused for at least some of the time, then going on holiday is not going to be a chilled out experience!

Sure, there is the dream that you see in the adverts. You can bounce balls and splash about in the pool as much as you want. They make for great photos too, But what happens when you’re trying to get your little ones to sleep in unfamiliar surroundings? It’s not much fun at all is it?

Sometimes for the sake of your relationship and your sanity you need to take a little time out. The opportunities may be very rare, so if they do crop up, grab them with both hands and don’t let go. Time away from the kids is very precious indeed!

Why not take a city break away?

You can get cheap car rental by using easyrentcars and explore with more freedom.

You can go anywhere that your heart desires and even book at the last minute!

Taking a break in a big city is a good idea for when you are short on time!  There are lots to do within a small radius, and you shouldn’t have to spend too much of your precious break getting from place to place.

You don’t want to lose time using public transport or trying to get to the other side of town when you’re only there for a couple of days.

If you prefer something more sedate then why not get out of the city for a mini vacation. If you’ve had enough of the hustle and bustle of everyday life then why not head to the countryside. Sometimes, some fresh air and a bit of tranquility are all we need to give ourselves a boost.

Getting back to nature is a boon for the soul. Even something as simple as a good long walk can clear the cobwebs away and give you better clarity of thought.

It’s so easy to get bogged down in the minutiae of minor problems, and it's always good to gain a little perspective! You can also enjoy each others company away from the pressures of your usual routine.

Whether you’re a lone parent or part of a couple, taking time out away from the children is important. You’re not just a parent; you’re a human being too! Everyone needs a little headspace from time to time and don’t think you’re neglecting your parental role. Happy mums make better mums!

With all that in mind,  I really could do with a break away!
