Lylia Rose is a UK money + lifestyle blog by Victoria Sully
My name is Victoria Sully, wife to Ben and busy mum to Bella and Reuben. I’m passionate about making money online, healthy living, travel and blogging - I'm a blogaholic with three blogs and I make my full-time living as a blogger!
I also love finding side hustles to boost my income, especially ways to make money online. My aim is to make and save more money to have better financial security now, in the future and to travel more.
Lylia Rose is a UK money blog which features a variety of lifestyle and family topics. See below for sorts the topics you’ll discover.
Thank you for joining me on my journey. Enjoy!
Making and saving money
Since the end of 2018 I decided to mainly focus on money related articles on Lylia Rose. Evolving from an Etsy store in 2012, to an e-commerce site, to a business blog, to a lifestyle blog... phew... Lylia Rose has now settled on being a UK money blog featuring making money online, blogging, working from home, self-employment, staying healthy as a busy work-at-home-mum, side hustles, saving money and family finance tips.
Read the story of Lylia Rose to learn more about the journey of Lylia Rose and how it came to be a money blog.

I love to write about being a work-at-home-mum as I am one, along with the benefits, but also challenges it creates. I've been self-employed since 2012 and have tried a variety of methods to make money from home. Marketing is an essential part of running any business, including a blog. I love to share my knowledge and anything new I learn that fascinates me. This section regularly features business related articles, how to run a home-based business, tips on being self-employed and more.
Not only have I been self-employed for several years, but my husband is a self-employed Gloucester handyman and also has a business making handmade furniture. Between us we run a few different businesses and have a lot of experience working from home.
Here are some handpicked articles to get you started:

I used to write a lot about this topic on this blog, but I set up a dedicated healthy living blog at Healthy Vix. I still write about healthy living on this blog too, but mainly with a money angle. Leading a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to be expensive: getting a good night's sleep is free and being more eco-friendly is a great money saving technique!
I'm passionate about only using natural products on my skin, not only for my own health and safety, but for the benefit of the environment. After all, where do you suppose all our cosmetics and toiletries end up once they are washed off our skin? There are lots of beauty brands that are doing their part for the environment nowadays, supporting great causes and have recycling schemes! Here are a couple of my favourites:
- 3 eco-friendly subscription boxes I use and love
- FFS Friction Free Shaving razor subscription review
I'm very passionate about healthy living. To me healthy living is the whole package. It's eating the most nutritious foods, being active every day, reducing stress and living in a healthy eco-friendly environment. I follow a vegan, plant-based whole foods diet, as do my children and husband. I don't drink alcohol and I avoid added sugar as much as possible. It's a topic I can talk about for hours and I top up my knowledge by watching lectures, documentaries and reading articles pretty much every single day. It's probably the topic I am most obsessed about and bore my husband to death about, hence why I set up a blog at Healthy Vix to dedicate another space on the internet to this passion!
Part of healthy living to me, is being eco-friendly. There's no point in eating organic food if you're then smearing toxic chemicals all over your skin or breathing them in. Eco friendliness stretches far beyond simply recycling and reusing. It's everything we choose to use. It's the choices we make every day. I've started thinking more about the consequences of my life on the environment over the past few years. It's a topic I am becoming increasingly passionate about and we are trying to be more aware of our choices and lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Making simple switches to be more eco-friendly by choosing reusable cloths instead of wipes, for example, is money saving in the long term too.
Here are some of my favourite articles on the topic:
- 3 Important Reasons to Choose Organic (other than your personal health)
- 13 eco-friendly ways to start saving money in the kitchen

Home and family
I have two children, Bella and Reuben, so I can draw from my experiences of family lifestyle and our family home when writing about many money topics.
We moved into our first purchased home together in May 2014. Since then it's been a labour of love to totally transform every room. We went for an old house which totally needed some love and major updating! I love all things home and garden as it's right on point with us doing up our own first home, especially affordable home improvements, how to increase the value of your home as well as mortgage advice and how to save money around the home.
I've also moved house more than 10 times so I love writing articles about house moves.
You can also discover a whole blog dedicated to home and garden topics, as well as my husband's amazing handmade furniture at his website Wood Create.
Here are some examples of my blog posts on home topics:
- How to cut household expenses with renewable energy
- Buying a house: the costs you need to prepare for
- Is buying a house better than renting?
- Why I won’t use a mortgage adviser again
- Save money in the home with these DIY tips
- How to freshen up your bathroom on a budget
I am a mum to two, Bella born in 2012 and Reuben born in 2015. I'm also married to Ben. Since having children, buying a house and getting married, we've had to navigate through a whole host of family finance decisions from mortgages, to writing wills and even combining our incomes and switching to a joint account. I write lots of articles about family finances that are relevant to our experiences.
Here are some examples:
- Joint bank account or separate finances for a happy marriage?
- Why you shouldn’t rely on a state pension
- 6 easy ways to save money as a family
In this section I used to share reviews of our holidays and days out, but now these sorts of posts will mostly be found on my dedicated travel blog at Travel Vixta.
